the last time i read a thriller with this many twists was a good girl's guide to murder, which changed my life, so the fact that i thought of it first in comparison to this is a testament to how much i enjoyed my reading experience. everytime i thought the story was gonna go where i predicted, it managed to prove me wrong and raise my eyebrows in surprise. and i mean that literally, not metaphorically. this was memorable, well-structured and cleverly written, with an atmospheric setting that fits the story. kinda hit the jackpot when i decided to buy the paperback on impulse bc this is definitely the type of book i'd wanna have on my shelf, and though often i hear mixed reviews about riley sager's works, im glad i gave him a shot and i think this is a satisfying first taste of his writing. solid 5 stars.
