Half-Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Within this first book in the Covenant series we're introduced to Alex, a young girl who was taken out of school, against her society's guidelines, by her mother and lived on the run.  After finding her mother's body she was on the run from the demons that live in their world, trying to survive, and hopefully, get back to the school she was taken away from.  Before she can reach the safety of its walls she's found and taken back.  It's been three years, and she has one summer to prove that she can make up lost time and start the school year on par with her peers... and stay out of trouble.  She must find a way to balance her friendships, her tendency to break the rules, her hormones, and the truth of her past as well as that of her future.  This opening novel lays a foundation for what will hopefully be an epic tale of finding yourself, falling in love, trusting others, and probably changing the world.  I'm excited to see what comes next.
