This book is not your typical World War 2 spy novel, but it is a very good one. Marian Sutro is approached by a British agency to train to be a spy to help France work against Germany. I really liked the character of Marian/Alice/Anne-Marie and the French diction that peppers the dialogue was an effective feature. Her assignment in France takes her into terrifying conditions; these particular scenes were excellent nail-biters.
