The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath

2.5 ⭐⭐✨
it wasn't a bad book.
It wasn't a good one either.
From now on I'll be calling it "The OG Sad White Girl Novel", and I think that sums up pretty much everything.
I can see why this book has an important place in literature for its feminist themes and its portrayal of depression and mental illness, which were particularly striking for a book written in the '60s; yet, I was bored most of the time (not to mention the ridiculous amount of slurs and racism), and I didn't really care about anything happening in general. I can't deny Esther being pretty relatable in certain characteristics, but that wasn't enough for me to appreciate my reading.
Not for me I guess?
