Disability Visibility: First-Person Stories From the Twenty-first Century by Alice Wong

My goal had been to read predominantly books by Disabled authors or with ones with Disabled representation to honor Disability Awareness Month, and while it isn't panning out perfectly I knew I wanted to make sure I got to this one. I had heard nothing but good reviews and I am especially fond of essay collections so I figured it would be a good read to pick up. The diversity in experiences and storytelling in this collection is incredible, the ability to hear so many different people speak on their lives and showcase their talent was such a treat to experience. As an able bodied person I can't speak to the ownvoices representation, but I can say that I learned a lot from these individuals and their stories. I got to see the world we live in from different points of view and see where I can work to be a better ally to the many different Disabled communities that exist in our world. I can't recommend this book enough.
