This is the only Jodi Picoult novel I’ve ever read, and first read it several years ago. I love that it’s a novel about the Amish that - for once - isn’t a romance.
There weren’t any characters that I absolutely loved, but there also weren’t any that I really hated. I understood them, mainly. I did find Katie to completely terrible at communication, but when you think about it, I suppose the Amish probably aren’t really taught how to communicate difficult feelings.
I remembered that everything was eventually revealed from my first reading, but I actually misremembered WHO was involved in that big reveal. Which is actually great, because if I forget enough details, it makes rereading fun all over again.
