this is such a wonderful historical fiction book. the book being narrated from the perspective of death adds a whole other layer of depth, as well as well written descriptive elements. the beauty of childhood is captured through the lives of liesel and rudy, even in times of turmoil during the second world war. additionally, the relationship between liesel and her father, liesel and rudy, liesel and the mayor’s wife, and especially liesel and max is so well crafted. There’s much more praise i could give about this book, but i’ll save you from reading any more of this mediocre review and just say that i highly recommend it.
