The Purity of Vengeance by Jussi Adler-Olsen
4.0

This was a very interesting book. It was told in two parallel stories, one set in 1987 and one in 2010. In the 1987 story we have a woman getting revenge against the people who have caused damage to her life. We hear her story of all of the awful things that happened to her including a forced sterilization. Throughout the story she's murdering the people who have wronged her. In the 2010 story, we have the cold case detective Carl Mørck and his assistant Assad investigating the disappearance of these murdered people.

It was a novel way to tell the story. Adler-Olsen has a knack for making his characters sympathetic but unlikable victims or perpetrators. He blurs the line very effectively and I'm always kind of amazed.

This one had quite a shocking twist.
