If you are involved in education or find yourself wondering where these gaps in your social studies came from you need to read this immediately. A friend of mine who is a history teacher recommended this to me and it had such an impact. About 2/3 of the book breaks down a lot of discrepancies throughout the average US history curriculum and the last 1/3 really pulls apart teaching philosophy, access to knowledge, and even the publishing system that contributes so heavily to this issue. That is what really stuck with me the most and even as a non history teacher shines light on how we’re all part of a rigged education system. Can’t recommend enough. If you had read this I’d love to talk to you about it.
