The God of Small Things
by Arundhati Roy
This is my mother's book and when I went back home for the summer, I decided to read it. It was one of the best books I have read in my life. I found that it was hard to put this book down. Maybe because the setting of this book is very familiar to me because it's Kerala and this is book about Keralites. She wrote it in such a beautiful way. You can feel the tropical vibe through her words and her style of writing.
She also wrote it in a way that the timeline of this book is very unique in a way (I think). She sort of tells you whats gonna happen but at the same time it's still a mystery. And she goes from past to future to middle back to past and then somewhere else and so on.
Ultimately this book is a very depressing and heartbreaking story. I don't know if I would be able to read it again. One of the mysteries of this book is the meaning of the title. What does it mean. And you only find out towards the end.
I absolutely loved this book and I don't think I'll be able to forget this story.
