dueratti 's review for:
Cry to Heaven
by Anne Rice
A fascinating, atmospheric read.
The complex intrapersonal and interpersonal dynamics were so compelling that I was never once annoyed or bored while reading, despite the style taking some initial effort to get used to and the plot feeling meandering at times. I found Tonio's relationship with his mother especially interesting, and I wish we could have seen more of Domenico.
There were plenty of parts which unsettled me (and I did not expect there to be so much sex) but I don't think that's necessarily a drawback in a book.
I enjoyed the portrayal of the setting and the language.
