Tempting Promises by Corinne Michaels
4.0
If you like a good enemies to lovers book, look no further than Tempting Promises.
Rowan Whitlock is the ex boyfriend of Charlotte Sullivan. Charlotte is fiercely loyal to her sister so when she reveals to her (and the entire town) that Rowan is a cheater, Charlotte vows to hate him for all eternity. The animosity they have for each other reveals itself in competing for land deals and cattle auctions just to name a few. They have mutual friends so when they are both invited to a weekend away. While out on separate hikes, they get snowed in for days in an abandoned cabin, where their hatred turns into passion. What happens in the cabin doesn’t stay in the cabin but they are once again competing for an important deal so what happens when one of them loses.
This was an interesting take on the enemies to lovers troupe. I liked the fact that they had to deal with some very real issues that went well beyond simply disliking each other. Also, the way Charlotte has to really look at her relationship with her sister while she has growing feelings for Rowan is really well written. The small town backdrop also really adds to the overall story. I was excited to see how this played out when Rowan and Charlotte were mentioned in the earlier books and I was not disappointed. Great book! Once you start it you won’t want to stop until the end. And I loved the ending, it sets up book 4 nicely.
