Although I liked The Serpent's Tale, I don't think it was as good as the first, Mistress of the Art of Death. While the story was interesting, it lacked the "can't put it down" aspect. The idea of a woman coroner during the time period (12th century) is fascinating and while that theme played heavily in the first book, there was definitely less of it in the second. Having said that, I was happy to see many of the characters from the first book and to follow the progress of Adelia and Rowley. I will definitely read the third installment to see where their story goes.
