Hoo boy! This has some ✨spice✨. If you like RH, this will scratch that itch in a semi-realistic way. Outlandish plots for the sake of spice take me out of the moment. Credence is believable and well written enough that it doesn't compromise the immersiveness of the experience. If you know anything about Appalachia or small communities in remote areas, you'll understand the vibe of this.

The storybook style ending will leave you scratching your head, but the journey getting there is tense enough (in a good way) that it doesn't matter.

There is a bit of a taboo in the novel, but it's easy to read as step vs half brother, if you're really repelled by it (it's not my thing personally) since the novel doesn't hinge on the fact or keep bringing it up as an issue.

Overall, the quality of the writing is better than your average erotica these days, but still doesn't transcend into contemporary or literary realms. Not perfect, but still an enjoyable bit of fun.
