Bless whoever recommended me this book. I could not put this down. I started this afternoon and spent all night reading (and maybe occasionally crying)-savoring every word.

“Of all the people I have chanced upon in life, there is no one who has left a greater impression.”

I got pulled in by the very first sentence. The beginning was somewhat slow, but I felt Ali’s writing is so marvelous it makes up for it. There is a continuous drive in mystery which makes the book a light read although it’s reflective and character driven.

I enjoyed the way the book contains a notebook entery, it makes so story so much more intimate. I was reflecting on why Ali just didn’t leave the book as just the entery? But concluded in that the the inner story reflects the external (especially these last 30 pages; regarding death). By having both parts, we can fully see the impact writing has on humanity.

The characters in this book (well, specifically in the notebook entery) are a piece of art alone. You cannot help but grow attached to them; I definitely felt it was to real to not be able.

I don’t have any notes whatsoever on Ali’s writing. It felt so real loved every second and couldn’t get enough of it. The ending is perfect and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
