Mooncakes by Suzanne Walker

One of the authors seems to live in my Chicago neighborhood, so I'm a little puzzled about our local library branch not featuring this book more proudly. Anyway, this graphic novel was cute, but this read like book 2 or 3 of a series rather than book 1. Features Asian Americans, non-binary peeps, and folks who wear hearing aids, so it was cool to meet those characters. That being said, the story has a big buildup, with lots of energy spent on building the world and introducing these interesting secondary characters, and then suddenly the story is over. If this is a series, I think the next one will be better since so much of the world is already created.
