Medicine Man
by Saffron A. Kent
“Because I was born with more than blood in my veins. I was born with strength. I was born with courage to fight. I'm a warrior.”
I’m pretty conflicted about this book. It definitely wasn’t bad, but it had a lot of potential that was wasted. The premise was interesting but could have worked a lot better with the characters and the romance than the way it actually did.
Most of the time I enjoyed Willow’s character. She was really complexly written and her illness and thoughts were very well written. Occasionally she became a bit repetitive, but overall being in her head was a very interesting experience.
Simon was also an interesting character, but I wish we got more of his perspectives. They were few and far between, so a lot of his personality remained a mystery for such a large portion of the book.
They were a really cute couple, and I loved when Willow would start rambling about them <3
Maybe I would’ve been happy someday. Maybe my smile would’ve reached my eyes. But I would’ve always, always looked for you. I would’ve stopped laughing just to search for you because I would’ve wanted to share it with you. But more than that… I would’ve wanted to share my tears with you. And you know what, even if I were crying and you were there, my world wouldn’t look so dark. So bleak. I would find some sliver of happiness even when I was sad.
I wasn’t planning on continuing this series until the ending (which I really enjoyed), and so we’ll see how it goes :)
