Welcome to Camp Slither (Goosebumps Horrorland #9) by R.L. Stine

This was a really fun read. I was surprised to like it so much, considering I didn't really enjoy the first Horrorland book I read (Slappy New Year). Goosebumps books based in summer camps tend to be pretty good, and this does a perfectly fine job of setting up the suspense that the camp is not what it seems and then paying it off.
The main characters start out with a warning that the camp is dangerous thanks to a paranoid kid on the bus, and every snakey little detail only increases suspicion about the camp. When they get attacked by a group of snakes inside one of the cabins, they decide to get to the bottom of the strange disappearances and the obsession with snakes.
Despite how much shorter this story is due to the story being split into the camp story and Horrorland, Camp Slither still manages to feel like a full story because many things happen and there is no wasted time. It's pretty silly in places, particularly the end, but that only made me love it more. It's the right amount of silly--enough to allow rather weak "explanations" to pass without a lot of scrutiny because it clearly doesn't take itself seriously, but not so silly it veers into stupidity and becomes insulting to the reader.
I would definitely recommend this book. There is the Horrorland aspect that connects it to other Horrorland books, but this one can basically be read as a standalone if you only read the Camp Slither portion.
