Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender

5.0

Ahhh such a beautiful story of self-discovery and acceptance, friendship and falling in love for the first time!!

This was also 400 pages of pure and beautiful poc and queer rep, which made me so incredibly happy to read. The fact that the author managed to include and make so many identities feel represented is such an incredible thing! I went into this book not expecting to feel represented or relate to anyone, but my heart is so full of love for this book and author right now - and the fact that they managed to make my, although little and underrepresented in media, identity (demigender) represented in such a beautiful way!

I also love how they did not make Felix into this perfect heroic character that protagonists usually are portrayed as, but rather as a realistic character who makes mistakes and (pardon my language) fucks up sometimes - making him so much more human and relatable in general!

I could write an entire essay about this book (and who knows, I’m still in school so maybe I will lol), but overall, this was such an incredible read; the storylines, the romances, the friendships and, of course, the pure and utterly beautiful representation of poc and queerness - not shying away from difficult subjects related to identity, but rather dealing with them in such a good manner!
