The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan

5.0

“She looked at me, like she was drinking in the fact that I was still here. And I realized I was doing the same thing. The world was collapsing, and the only thing that really mattered to me was that she was alive.”

By far the best book in the series for me. It’s been a while since a battle scene had me feeling the way this one did. Though I will admit that the battle was immensely long and spanned Multiple chapters and I feel like it could’ve been slightly more condensed... there’s just something about how detailed and drawn-out the battle was. I could actually feel the despair in the pit of my stomach. A somewhat unrealistic ending considering how Greek Gods actually are in mythology, they’re typically very vengeful and unfeeling but I suppose Riordan changed their attitude for the sake of character-building and for the sake of the ending. Definitely being lenient on the book since it was a nice way to wrap up my trip down nostalgia lane, but I can’t wait to read the Heroes of Olympus for my next trip down memory lane. Annabeth and Percy finally getting together was so satisfying and it’s one of the few times I actually appreciate the friends-to-lovers trope. All the characters who died fought so well and I appreciate that each of them were honored and not just forgotten about. Love this book and can’t wait for the TV show.
