Ace of Shades
by Amanda Foody
i absolutely adored the worldbuilding in this book. the new orleans + las vegas inspired setting was amazing, and i liked the early 1900s vibes. the concept of blood and split talents was so interesting and i adored seeing enne discover her talents more throughout the book. i loved her character development, i loved levi so much, and i feel like jac and lola were such amazing side characters. also, learning more about lourdes’ story was super interesting!
this book also had some good rep—there was a genderfluid character and a same-sex-leaning bisexual protagonist, which i love because there is a huge lack of representation in both of those categories.
the only things that annoyed me about this book were the made-up swear words (mucking?? no thank you) and how fast the romance progressed.
otherwise, this book was amazing, and i’m enjoying the sequel so far!
