Gallant by V.E. Schwab

4.25

Went into this with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised by this delightfully gothic and fast-paced novel. Olivia is saved from her life at an orphanage by a letter from her long lost uncle.
She is delighted to find that he lives on a fine estate in the countryside...until it turns out he's not alive at all. There's a parallel world behind the door that she now must keep in check. Secrets begin to unravel as she reads the last words written by her mother, is haunted by ghouls, and ventures between worlds.
Honestly my favorite Schwab book thus far.
