The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler

2.0

I had to read this book for my detective fiction class, and I didn't really like it very much. It was difficult to follow, possibly because of the huge number of characters involved. I would suggest making a list of characters as you read this book: it helps understand the plot a little better. But as I kept reading this book, I kept forgetting what the crime even was because there were so many side-action scenes going on that didn't seem very relevant to the crime at hand. Overall, I gave this book 2 stars - it wasn't very organized structurally, but the hidden concepts it included are interesting, especially with what "the big sleep" really refers to.
