second half of the book really hooked me in, i just LOVE sam and frodo's relationship and how it develops. the series takes a darker and more despondent tone since it's unknown if the battle between good and evil will turn out well for the world and the characters in the book. i did like the first half, but the second half is what's *chefs kiss* and why i love the series.
