i don't know - maybe i'm finding that i'm actually a sucker for books that star with really hot, really sad girls and the men in their lives who either save them or got them that way. something about cleopatra and frankenstein really sticks with you, in a way that permanently alters the way you view other people, or yourself in love, or yourself in turmoil. i'm so grateful that this is the book that started my 2023, and i can't wait to see what comes next for coco mellors.
