Los cuerpos del verano by Martín Felipe Castagnet

3.0

I… I need time to think but I really enjoyed the concept of this book. It felt very “Black Mirror” with its exploration of death (or lack thereof) and the “burning” of souls into dead bodies.

As a piece of science fiction it is fascinating. Unfortunately there were just moments in the writing choices that toed the line of problematic (misogyny, mild racism, weird metaphors).

This is the kind of book I will be thinking about A LOT!
I’ll come back and write a better review once me and my thoughts have settled down.

TW: murder, death, amputation death of a parent, death of a child, racism, misogyny, classism.
