I’ll admit it, I enjoy a Hallmark-style story from time to time. Who doesn’t? But I can never shake the frustration of seeing the same-one dimensional characterization of the workaholic ice queen over and over again. (Which is one of those casually misogynistic things we should probably unpack as a society. But I digress.)

This book flipped the script on that trope, and it low key feels like something in my heart has been healed. It doesn’t hurt that it also features several of my favorite things:
🌟Enemies-to-lovers trope
🌟Copious rom-com references
🌟The North Carolina mountains
🌟Independent bookstores
🌟Sisters who are also best friends

This is an immediate favorite and a 10/10!

Side-note: did anyone else catch the reference to A Walk to Remember in chapter 27? The “I might be bad at it” scene was burned onto my 10 year-old brain, and I maaay have squealed when I saw that subtle nod.
