Songs of Innocence and of Experience by William Blake

5.0

I fell in love with poetry when I was forced to study this book. I had previously rejected poetry that didn't have a strict ABAB rhyme scheme to it. My young mind hated having to follow something that was so unlike anything I had ever read.

My first lesson of English Language A-Level, I read The Tyger. I was transfixed. This poem struck a chord with me for various reasons. To this day, I still remember the poem in its entirety.

Songs of Innocence and of Experience was my first significant foray into poetry and I couldn't be happier writing that.
