Let's see how do I start this...
It did take me awhile to rip the bandaid off. The pacing at the beginning was good, then it felt as if the years of Gia being held captive was skimmed?
It would of been nice to know Gia more hell even Nathan for that matter.
The whole live feed camera and "audience" thing came and went. Made me wonder half the time it was even mentioned kind of just felt like it was up for the readers to decide?
Gia didn't really fight back at all and only escaped one time out of the 7 years.
I thought at times she was just playing into it all just to keep Nathan at ease so that she could fight back and escape.
The ending was very unsatisfying in my opinion. She kills her captor after he frees her which I mean good but underwhelming.
It didn't feel like a revenge that should of been brewing for 7 years of being a dog and all the trauma she went through.
Also her running into the wilderness and leaving behind a semi normal life didn't land well with me considering the fact that when she was enduring all that abuse she was thinking about her Dad and what she would say to him. Plus she was broke why not put the money to good use? (In my opinion) I did enjoy the graphic detailing with the body horror it felt like I was in the room when Nathan was pulling parasites out her eyes. I just wish there was more explanation on things and more violence because I wanted to jump into the book and terrorize Nathan for 40 days and 40 nights about the dewormer comment.
