I enjoyed this book more than I thought. It is  dark and atmospheric. Effie is a great FMC. My heart ached for her as she fights through her trauma. Preston has such a Mr Darcy attitude. His care and respect for effie was touching. I adored them as a couple! The writing and imagery was beautiful.

The only thing keeping it from 5⭐️ was the pacing at the end.
