The Five: The Untold Lives of the Women Killed by Jack the Ripper by Hallie Rubenhold

emotional informative

This book is amazing.
I love the way Rubenhold gets her point across about not treating the victims as entertainment. She stayed respectfull to the women shes writing about, never romanticising or dramaticising their lives or deaths. I love the way Rubenhold addressed the sexism and double standerds of this time period, and also misconceptions we have of it. This book also taught me so much, not only about the victims of Jack the Ripper, but also things about this time period in general, and that context realy helped you to understand these women more. The amount of research that must have gone into this book impressed me. This book stays engaging the whole way through. And that conclusion!!!! I won't be able to view true crime, especially anything to do with Jack the Ripper, in the same way ever again. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.
