One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle
4.0
This book completely encapsulated me. It was a beautiful and magical story that had me hooked from the beginning. Katy is devastated and lost after the death of her mother who was her soulmate. She takes the trip to Postiano, Italy alone that was originally planned for the two of them before her mom got sick. Her mom spent a summer there growing up and always talked about it’s beauty and charm and how magical it was. When Katy arrives she can feel her mom’s spirit all around her. Watching Katy find her way and venture out to find herself while also searching for pieces of her mother was amazing. While in Positano, she bumps into her mom who is 30 years old and gets to see her as the person she is outside of being her mom, how spontaneous and fun she could be outside of always knowing the answers. The magical element of this book was so fun, different and heart wrenching at times. While reading this book, I couldn’t stop dreaming of the food and wine she talks about and how delicious everything sounded. It truly was a perfect summer read with a magical twist and I devoured this book!
The only thing I didn’t understand or love was her relationship with Adam and how she treated her husband.
