I’m sure this book would be rated higher by someone who really likes murder mystery novels. They are just not my things. It’s well done, for what it is and if you love solving a puzzle with an interesting cast of characters, you will like this.

For me it was very middle of the road I found myself losing interest about halfway through and struggling to finish the book. I’m not motivated by a “who-done-it” so there was nothing pulling me back into the story. I would put it down and just kind of forget about it.

The two main characters were so well done though. The whole Sherlock and Watson thing was done amazingly well. Even though I didn’t love the book I loved these two. My favorite scenes were the two of them going back and forth, trying to figure it all out. Witty and fun. It was the main thing that kept me interested. They would separate and I couldn’t wait for the moment they would converse again. Their relationship was a high point.

If you enjoy cozy-ish murder mysteries this is totally going to work for you. It’s very readable and enjoyable. I’m totally not bashing this novel. It’s just not a genre that appeals to me, which is less an issue with the book and more an issue with the reader n
