The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult

5.0

What a winner! I’ve enjoyed most of Jodi Picoult’s books, but occasionally one knocks it out of the park a little more than others. The Storyteller follows Sage, a young woman who is left reeling after learning the old man she befriended at her bakery is a 95 year old Nazi solider. Alongside that story, we flash back to her grandmother’s experience as a Jew in Nazi Germany. It’s heavy & profound & sad, but there’s also delightful light moments primarily brought in by the Department of Justice employee Sage works with. I’ve heard there’s reason to debate it’s historical accuracy, but that sort of thing doesn’t ruin a story for me. Loved it.
