This book was pretty good. I didn’t enjoy that the character was a coward—although this is realistic to many people. This made the book much less remarkable for me. I’m not saying he’s a horrible person for being the way he is but it can be tiring to be hearing these stories as compared to people who are doing the thing. I prefer to read about more defiant characters, and there were multiple mentioned in the book they could have been focused on. So kind of a me thing but also I did appreciate the throughlines of how he acted/held himself and how that translates to his familial dynamics as well. Things that brought the book up for me were the narration through the joint perspective between him and his mother, boarding school dynamics between him and his older classmates, and the grieving perspective
