This one was sooooo dark! So incredibly terrifying, especially reading from Beatriz's point of view. At no point does it feel safe for her. At no point does it feel like she can relax or let down her guard. This ghost is HORRIFYING. Working out who it is and why they're there kept me so invested in the story, as well as learning about Andres' past. It weaves horror, mystery, and the destructive nature of colonialism together so well. I couldn't stop reading it, and anyone who knows me knows I don't often reach for something that genuinely scares me.
