The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle
2.0

Since these stories were written the character of Holmes and his various mysteries, as portrayed in modern adaptations, have rendered these early stories rather crude. They are eminently readable; however, although I do not doubt their importance in popularising the mystery genre, I can't shake off the fact that these stories just feel too predictable and the characters too shallow by today's standards.
