Four Dead Queens" is certainly not a book for everyone. I can honestly say that some aspects of this book's world are certainly quite uncomfortable to read about. Despite that, it's a pretty well done debut work by Astrid Scholte. I found the characters to be rather interesting, however, and a bit more so than I thought they would be initially. It does, however, tend to spread itself a little too thin. It tries to do a bit too much and that definitely hurt the overall story.
There were certainly things I wished were a little bit different and some aspects of the plot and the characters could have certainly used a little more fine tuning. I gave this book 3 stars despite some of the more noticeable flaws and uncomfortable world details because I thought the overall plot was well done.
