This is a dirty dirty book. You should know that going in. There’s a lotta lotta sex on these pages. But that wasn’t even the compelling bit. The sense of longing to Be Someone and to do big, wonderful things — in only the way that a 17-year-old can feel — was so present here.
Trine (or Louise) was so smart and thoughtful.
Spare prose and short scenes kept the story moving even though there’s not a ton of action or even plot. A lot of sentence fragments. So if that sort-of device at the end of chapters bugs you , then you’ll definitely be bugged. But I really liked the writer’s style.
In reading some of these negative reviews, I’m realizing I liked it more than I thought I did. Just went up to 4 stars.
