Neonomicon by Alan Moore

dark mysterious tense fast-paced

2.5

I can appreciate this as part of the foundation of Providence, but nothing more than that. I would consider this incredibly weak relative to what Moore is capable of with his writing; it makes sense that this was, from what I understand, written because Moore “needed some money quickly”.

I understand Moore’s intention of pulling back the curtain on Lovecraft’s personal beliefs and mythos but, specifically regarding the mythos, I think Lovecraft’s references to ‘nameless rituals’ leaves a lot more to each reader’s personal imagination than the gruesome sequence Moore presents.
