As a published author, who is also currently a full time author whose book is coming out this month, this was such a meta read. It described the plights and anxieties of publishing so well and what happens when writing, a thing that had sustained you and been a joy and comfort, becomes your job, not just something to be monetized and turned into a business, but that comes with all the worries of marketing and sales and reviewers. Everything with the dead body was darkly funny and fascinating, but the insight into publishing and how deeply I could connect with David and his feelings on that, resonated the most for me.
