The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

5.0

This book was excellent. Looking through the negative reviews I see of it on goodreads, I have to wonder if I was reading the same book as some of these reviewers. It's almost hard to imagine people have gotten so cynical that they cannot imagine that a book like this could be written without some sinister ulterior motive, or read without a desire to assuage feelings of white guilt. Books can be books. They inform, amaze, teach, and describe - to ascribe more to the book than what is written, to guess at the author's intent and presume it to be sinister, strikes me as overly jaded and extremely distressing.
