Spare by Prince Harry

5.0

I listened to the Audiobook for this one, with the Author as the narrator. This is the perspective of someone who lost their Mum at a young age, living within the confines of a system that from birth instructs you how to live. He tells of the privileges that being a part of a Royal family have given him and acknowledges this all the way through. He also consistently expresses his love for his family and those that have shown him love and support throughout his life. He understandably has no love for the media or any organisation that has impacted on the restrictions and trauma both himself and those close to him have endured. I have been very conscious of not reading any of the stories in the magazines or online about him and his wife since they have been together. I was a follower of Markle on instagram prior to her meeting Harry. She did display a sense of social justice and down to earth qualities that he talks about in the book. His values throughout the book appear to be quite genuine and I can definitely see the impact both his parents have had on him. It is worth the read/listen. He is also quite the narrator and I enjoyed listening to him. It gave the stories more brevity coming from his mouth.
