The Aeronaut's Windlass by Jim Butcher
3.0

Each creature had something it excelled at, he supposed. Humans could manage knots easily, and cats could do everything else.

Two spires go to war with each other. Captain Grim, Bridget, Gwen, Benedict and Rowl are the main characters who are trying to stop marine enemies from another spiral.

As you can see I wasn't a big fan of this book. Wasn't really sure how to explain this book. I found myself bored at some areas and felt like it was just filler stuff. Annoyed how the characters always talked about the Enemy, but is the enemy just a neighboring spire and their marines? Is it the leader of the other spire? Just kind of felt vague to me. I did like the battle scenes and any part to deal with Rowl (who doesn't love talking cats?). Probably won't continue on with this series unless someone tells me the next book is amazing. Not sure if this was a good book to get started into Butcher's writing.
