Reading this reasonably soon after QEII death meant some of the events/structure of the the “royal” elements were a bit jarring as the reality was too recent. 

If you can ignore that (as most people probably can) then the book offers an interesting insight into the role of the royalty and racism … also a very current topic!

But the story itself is fun and entertaining
