read this as the first book in book club the idea was so good but was poorly executed.
world building was dense but went no where and I felt like it didn't add to or enhance the story. it felt over ambitious.
within the first couple of chapters we meet all these characters that never get brought up again so what was the point?
I also didn't care for the main romance at all. I wished to see more character development between jainan and kiem. also we spend so much of the book with jainan's pov that i forgot kiem was considered a main character as well.
I had to force myself to get through this book for the sake of book club
