Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach
4.0
super fascinating & informative! i actually started reading this about 7 years ago, when my 9th grade english teacher mentioned it was an interesting book. although it’s taken me a bit of a hot second to finish, i did enjoy it — reading it was kind of a rollercoaster of shock/disgust/awe, and i don’t think i’ll ever see medicine in the same way again :,)
i do appreciate how roach begins her novel with a distinction between death and dying — i think it’s one example of her treating the subject with sensitivity
also, i can’t even begin to imagine how much time and energy must’ve gone into the research she did. it’s really impressive aldjsjzjxhdh
