Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell

2.0

This was probably the most average book I’ve ever read. And saying average would mean 3 stars but I just couldn’t put myself to type three stars. I was waiting the whole time for some sort of plot, twist or something crazy, or maybe something in the epilogue, but nothing happened. I knew what was gonna happen from the blurb essentially, I guessed the twist straight away, but I I remember saying to my friend, when I said what I thought the twist would be. I said to him oh, surely that won’t happen because that’s just too predictable and then it did happen. There is no twists in this book. Well there is but I knew they were going to happen. basically page 100 onwards and I prefer in thrillers to have a sort of big tension buildup and then in the last 30% of the book to then be hit with twist, twist twist. The writing was good I liked the pace and I did like the style. I thought it was easy to read and I did find some of it interesting and it was quite emotional because the story is quite dark at times, especially the epilogue I got teary-eyed from that, there’s not really much more to say, it’s very disappointing how predictable and sort of boring it is.
