This was good, and I liked it. I do think it felt a little drawn out, and oddly enough like maybe it should be split into two completely separate stories. I know I'm not explaining it great, but I don't know how else to say it.
The concept is cool and the world-building is decent. The character growth is complicated... The author is great at providing backstory for characters, and making his characters very interesting... But sometimes I felt like he added to those stories as afterthoughts, or to make something they were about to do seem more in-character. I also felt like he spent a lot of time building up "throw away" characters. So, yes... great characters, but sometimes their growth is a little clunky.
I would read something else by this author, but I am glad this series is over.
