Going There by Katie Couric
3.0
I’m a little too young to remember much of Katie Couric’s days on NBC’s TODAY and then the other networks/shows that followed, but reading this autobiography stirred up a weird kind of nostalgia for the 90s and aughts— all the news she was there to break and all that she wasn’t, often due to misogynistic power structures. Katie Couric is anything but perfect, and I appreciate how she acknowledges many of her missteps. And yes, you’ll read all about her friendship with Matt Lauer. Lastly, I had no idea how much tragedy Katie Couric has endured via the deaths of loved ones, some far too premature. What an accomplished, entertaining, and lived life.
